Regional Youths to Tackle Himalayan Climate Challenges
Nepal is set to host the first-ever SAARC Youth Climate Summit this September in Pokhara. Youth delegates from all eight South Asian countries will gather to formulate joint strategies on climate adaptation, particularly focused on the Himalayas’ fragile ecosystem.
The summit, supported by UNDP and Nepal’s Ministry of Forest and Environment, will include workshops, policy simulation games, and field visits to glacial lakes threatened by climate change.
While based in Nepal, the event holds strong relevance for India, Bhutan, and Bangladesh, all of which face shared climate risks. Delegates are expected to draft a joint youth declaration to present at COP30 in Brazil.
