More travellers go to Barahapokhari

A popular tourist site in Lamjung, Barahapokhari Lake is bordered by snow-capped mountains and verdant fields that are rhododendron-flowering, adding to its natural splendour. Once a well-liked location for religious ceremonies, Barahapokhari today experiences year-round tourism, with groups of ten to fifteen people arriving every day for its breathtaking scenery. At 3,200 metres above sea level, Barahapokhari has sweeping vistas of the Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges and is a popular destination for both domestic and foreign tourists because of its natural and religious significance. In warmer months, the pastures along the lake are used for grazing sheep and cattle.

According to Arjun Gurung, the head of the Marsyangdi Rural Municipality, trekkers also find it thrilling to watch sheep herders in the alpine pastures. The region only has one thati, or shelter, which is not enough to accommodate all of the trekkers, according to Anuj Adhikari, a domestic tourist who recently returned from a hike to Barahapokhari. Because of this, visitors usually set up tents or tarps for camping or look for shade from trees or cliffs. From Khudi, one can travel to Barahapokhari via Bhulbhule and Bhusme, Chiti, Majhgaun, and ancient Dubar; alternatively, one can travel from Chhinkhola and Dubar in a same day.
