Students in Makwanpur are greatly relieved by the suspension bridge

Traveling to school is now much simpler thanks to the construction of a suspension bridge across the Simat River in Dhetredamar, Makwanpur district. Since they are no longer forced to travel dangerous paths over the river during the rainy season, parents, teachers, and children at Kala Bhairav Primary School are relieved. The Bakaiya Rural Municipality provided technical assistance, Child Rescue Nepal provided financial support, and the Esther Benjamin Memorial Foundation collaborated to build the bridge. The Esther Benjamin Memorial Foundation was thanked by Chairman Lamichhane for creating the school building, restrooms, and now the bridge. He also commended the foundation’s educational investments.

When the Simat River overflowed during the monsoon, the headmaster, office assistants, and members of the school management committee had to assist pupils in across the river to get to school and thereafter escort them home. The suspension bridge’s construction has now overcome this obstacle. The fact that parents can now safely send their kids to school even during the wet season made the locals happy. The headmaster of the school reports that there are now 20 pupils registered in classrooms up to grade three. The school is attended by students from communities like Godam Danda, Ajingare, Dhetre, and Dipsbata. Some pupils must walk an hour to get to school because the area is geographically distant and primarily inhabited by Tamang people.
