Work on repairing the Bailey Bridge accelerated in a number of locations

In order to repair flood-damaged transportation services, the government is addressing problems with Bailey bridges in several districts, including a 45-meter-long bridge in Sindhupalchok. After floodwaters destroyed a concrete bridge in Charikot, a 45-meter-long Bailey bridge was erected. Cargo trucks and other vehicles will be able to cross the river thanks to the Rs. 17 million bridge. Revenue collection at the Tatopani Dry Port Customs Office was halted due to the destruction of the Bahrabise-Kodari highway by flooding. The road division, the local administration, and border trade associations are supporting the construction of new Bailey bridges in Larcha and Liping. The Hetauda-Kathmandu route is connected by the Bailey bridge in Makwanpur, which was constructed for Rs. 14.5 million. It can sustain 30 tons and allows vehicles to resume traffic when flooding damaged the diversion routes.

Bridge access in Makwanpur was disrupted by floods, leading to sporadic closures. The installation of the Bailey bridge was a long-term fix for the flooding of the Bagmati River and hume pipes. In Panchthar, 60% of the Bailey bridge repair work is finished; however, flooding has caused the bridge that connects Fidim and Hilihang to halt. According to Sitaram Gautam, an engineer at the Road Division Office in Ilam, work is presently underway to repair a 70-meter-long Baiely bridge that spans the Hewa. He said the job would be completed in two weeks. On Ilam’s other routes to the Mechi Highway, two Bailey bridges are also undergoing repairs. Two of them—one over the Puwakhola and the other over the Mai River—are undergoing repairs.
