The third extension of the deadline for the Rahughat Hydro Power Project

For the third time, the construction deadline for the Rahughat Hydropower Company in Myagdi has been extended. The Raghuganga hydropower project, a division of the Nepal Electricity Authority, is promoting the 40 megawatt project that is now under construction. The contract, worth Rs 6 billion, was given to an Indian business, Jayprakash Associates, on November 17, 2017, with a 45-month timeline for completion. The deadline was initially extended in February 2022 due to the inability to finish the project within the allotted time, and the second deadline lapsed on June 27 of this year. According to the Managing Director of the Hydropower Project, Ganesh KC, the deadline has been extended for the third time, to November 27, 2025, on the consultant company’s proposal.

As of right moment, the eagerly anticipated hydroelectric project has made 90% physical progress. The contracting company has blamed the COVID-19 epidemic, floods, landslides, and a lack of river-based building supplies for the project’s delayed completion. Additionally, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, an Indian business that signed an electromechanical contract with Hydropower in October 2019 for more than USD 12.93 million, was unable to import and install hydro project equipment by the deadline. This year’s December 31 is the contract’s expiration date with BHEL.
