The number of students at the school designed for Lama children declines

Due to the increasing trend of Lama families enrolling their children in private schools both inside and outside the district, the number of Lama pupils in schools created specifically for the Lama community has drastically decreased. The majority of Lama students have left the village school to study elsewhere and at the district headquarters, according to Chyama Lama of Bargaun of Simkot. Parents leaving the hamlet is the primary cause of this predicament, Chyama noted. The village school is now in danger of closing since there are only elderly residents left and parents go with their kids to the district headquarters.

Raling Secondary School, founded for Lama students, is experiencing a significant decline in enrollment due to parents’ relocation to Kathmandu and other nearby schools. Ward Chairman Pama Lama warns of potential closure of Lama school due to student shift to private schools, citing previous closures due to lack of attendance. Raling Secondary School, primarily catering to Dalit and Chhetri communities, is aiming to attract students back to village schools by offering quality education.
