The forest office operates out of facility destroyed by an earthquake
The SDFO in Jajarkot is operating from an earthquake-damaged building despite 20 months of delays in reconstruction, causing operational challenges. Authorities have not taken reconstruction steps, leaving office staff living in cramped rented spaces in Chepka, Nalgad Municipality-2, as services are delivered from the damaged structure. Division Forest Office’s Information Officer, Aja Rawal, claims that the Building and Housing Reconstruction Technical Office allotted funds for maintenance last year. It is hoped that reconstruction work would soon begin after an evaluation determined that complete reconstruction was necessary and finances were allocated appropriately.
Despite the Nalgad Sub-Division Forest Office’s continued assistance, the earthquake-cracked structure is in danger of collapsing because of the constant rain. Because of the earthquake’s significant effects on office operations, workers had to flee, and the Ministry requested restoration through the Division Forest Office. The delays in rebuilding government buildings have created problems for both service providers and service seekers. The continuation of services from the hazardous site often carries the risk of losing important documents.
