The cost of eggs is rising in Nepal

The price of eggs has gone up recently. Today is the day that the Nepal Layers Poultry Breeders Association will implement the support price. Chitwan has adjusted the farm price to Rs. 480 per crate for giant eggs and Rs. 450 for medium-sized eggs. This is a 30 rupee increase for 30 eggs or a crate. The high demand and poor output have caused the price to rise, according to Association President Binod Pokharel. Four months ago, the daily production of eggs was 40,000 cartons; today, it is between 28,000 and 30,000 cartons.

According to Dr. Ananta Dahal, an associate professor at the AFU in Rampur, higher temperatures have led to hens producing fewer eggs because they are eating less grain. There has been around a quarter reduced production. At this time of year, diseases are also common, and hens are more susceptible to heat stress due to increased humidity brought on by rain, which reduces productivity. H9 illness has been detected in 50 chicken farms in samples imported from Chitwan and the surrounding districts, according to Dr. Bijay Kumar Shrestha, Head of the National chicken illness Research Laboratory, Bharatpur.
