Rural Nepal to Gain Power with Largest Solar Rollout Yet
The Nepalese government has launched its biggest rural electrification plan, aiming to bring solar energy to over 500 villages currently off the national grid. Backed by the Asian Development Bank and other partners, the $125 million project focuses on provinces like Karnali and Sudurpashchim.
The plan will include community solar mini-grids, battery storage units, and training programs for locals. This clean energy drive is expected to benefit over 1.2 million people.
For Indian and South Asian audiences, Nepal’s initiative reflects the growing trend of regional green energy collaboration—particularly relevant in areas of West Bengal, Assam, and parts of Bangladesh.
