Resunga Airport flights will not operate for two months

For the past two months, regular flights to and from Gulmi’s Resunga Airport have been halted. According to Suman Thapa, chief of the airport station, flights have been suspended because Nepal Airlines’ aircraft is undergoing maintenance and there are no other aircraft available. Flights are unlikely to resume anytime soon; the last flight was conducted on December 19, 2024. In the past, flights were planned for Fridays once a week. Authorization for three weekly flights was given due to the growing demand for passengers. The schedule was changed to a weekly Friday flight during the monsoon season. More recently, flights were planned for Wednesdays and Fridays, twice a week.

According to the schedule, flights leave Kathmandu at 6:30 am and arrive back in Kathmandu from Resunga at 7:45 am. According to Resunga Municipality, visitors from France and Spain have begun to visit Gulmi since flights were introduced. According to Thapa, the airfare is Rs. 7,300 from Gulmi to Kathmandu and Rs. 7,500 from Kathmandu to Gulmi. An unpaved road leads to Resunga Airport, which is about five kilometers from Tamghas, the district headquarters. On May 11, 2023, commercial flights started operating out of the airport.
