Red Cross Day observe today in the country
‘Keeping Humanity Alive’ is the theme across the globe for today’s World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day celebrations. Every year on May 8, people throughout the world honour the humanitarian work done by the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement. In honour of those who raise awareness of the values and activities of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent organisations committed to providing compassionate, selfless, and united social service in the face of natural disasters, wars, medical emergencies, and other calamities, the day is observed on the anniversary of Henry Dunant’s birth. Human principles are hard to sustain in today’s world of growing inequality, health issues, and conflict. The Red Cross volunteers think that in such a scenario, this day will be helpful in preserving human life and bringing hope and peace to the global society.
