President Paudel urges a hard stance against caste discrimination

President Ramchandra Paudel emphasizes the need for equality and national solidarity while calling for an end to caste-based discrimination and untouchability and wishing all Nepalis happiness, peace, and success. The head of state has called on all individuals, families, communities, government agencies at all levels, political parties, national and international non-governmental organizations, civil society, and the media to increase their awareness of racial discrimination and untouchability. He was reminding everyone of the constitutional clauses that guarantee the development of a just and equitable society.

According to the President, major improvements in thinking, working style, customs, and social practices, as well as in behavior, can be brought about by promoting mutual unity, reconciliation, and harmony. This will help to diminish the current racial prejudice and untouchability in social behavior. President Paudel issued a statement on the National Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Untouchability, wishing everyone luck in building a prosperous, cultural, and equality-based nation free from both. The 21st of the Nepali month of Jeth is recognized as the National Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Untouchability in remembrance of the day on which the government declared the country to be a “caste discrimination-free nation” on Jeth 21, 2063 BS.
