Pokhara-Mungling road work is gonna start soon

The Prithvi Highway project’s Pokhara-Mungling road expansion is moving along at a steady pace. 76% of the work on the eastern section is finished, according to Engineer Bishnu Prasad Pandey, the project’s information officer. 71.1 kilometers of the road have already been blacktopped as part of the urgent blacktopping effort. In places where the first layer was finished earlier, the final 71 kilometers of blacktopping—which includes 35 kilometers of double-layer blacktopping has been finished. In several parts of the municipalities of Bandipur, Aanbukhaireni, and Vyas, final blacktopping work is ongoing. The road was 6 cm thick at first, and it is currently being made 4 cm thicker. Road painting and marking will start after the last blacktopping is completed, one side at a time.
Additionally, blacktopping work is moving forward in the eastern section from Buldi Bridge in Damauli towards Ghasikuwa. On both sides of the centerline, the road is being widened to 23 meters. In this section, fourteen small bridges have been finished. The bridge that spans the Madi River between Vyas Municipality’s Ward Nos. 4 and 5 is 60% finished. On February 1, 2021, the eastern section contract was signed, and on April 15, 2021, construction got underway. China Communication Construction Company was given the contract. With financial support from the ADB, the 1969-designed road is being expanded to four lanes in response to growing traffic congestion. The contract for the eastern section is worth Rs. 6.21 billion.
