Parents are delighted by the school’s routine health examinations
Parents are happy that the ward office of Solududhkunda Municipality-2 in Solukhumbu district has performed routine health examinations for about 450 pupils from all community schools in the ward in order to guarantee continuous education. Parents have expressed their satisfaction that their children can now continue their studies uninterrupted after medical checks addressed health and dental issues. According to Iwad Thitey Sherpa, Ward Chairperson of Solududhkunda Municipality-2, a group of medical experts has been going to schools every two months to provide general health tests and every four months to perform dental exams.
The project was launched because, as Ward Chairperson Sherpa emphasized, improving student health is essential to improving learning results. According to him, people’s basic needs—health and education—are being prioritized. The initiative has been very beneficial to both parents and kids, according to Govinda Bahadur Basnet, principal of Himalayan Sherpa Buddhist Basic School. The initiative distributes medications and offers free dental and medical examinations. According to the ward, this is the first program in Nepal where community school pupils are regularly given free medical and dental exams in their classrooms.
