On April 10 Nepali Army begin Gorkha–Jitgadhi National Unification Trek

Nepali Army plans Gorkha-Jitgadhi National Unification Trek, starting April 10, to preserve historical forts and raise public awareness of Nepal’s unification history, retracing strategic routes used by King Prithvi Narayan Shah. Local stakeholders pledge support for a 35-kilometer trek to pass Nepal’s heritage to future generations, emphasizing the importance of local participation in Nepal’s heritage. Chief District Officer of Tanahun, Shyam Krishna Thapa, urges locals to support the historic march, where the symbolic integration flag will be ceremonially handed over. The trek, starting on April 11, will pass through various locations, including Bhimsen Gadhi, Bangera, Sepabagaicha, and Tuhurepasal, before reaching Tanahunsur Durbar for flag transfers.
Traditional music, the national flag, and historic regimental banners from the five original military companies from the unification era—Shreenath, Kalibox, Purano Gorakh, Bardawani, and Sabuj—as well as the Gurubox Company, which participated in the pivotal battle of Jitgadhi, will all be featured in the procession. There are 305 kilometers between Gorkha to Jitgadhi. This annual walk has been organized by the Nepali Army to honor the spirit of national unity and introduce citizens about the history of the country’s founding.
