Nepal tourism hike in 2025

In 2024, Nepal’s tourist industry had a stunning comeback in foreign visitor arrivals, as the number of foreign visitors to the Himalayan country increased significantly. Over 1.147 million visitors visited Nepal in 2024, according to the Nepal Tourism Board, representing a notable rebound and rise of almost 13.1% over the year before. According to NTB, Nepal welcomed 1,147,567 foreign visitors in 2024, including 92,034 foreign visitors in December. “The synergy of collective efforts and the spirit of partnership fostered from the very beginning has made possible the remarkable growth in international visitor arrivals,” stated Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of NTB.
He said that even though the pandemic was the biggest disaster in the history of the business, the tourist sector has recovered 96% of its pre-pandemic visitor levels. He continued by saying that the strong increase in visitor arrivals further solidified Nepal’s reputation as one of the most popular travel destinations. For the Buddhist Conference, more than 800 individuals traveled to Kathmandu and Bhairahawa on charter planes. The COVID-19-affected travel and tourism industry is growing since the fiscal year 2022–2023. In the most recent fiscal year 2023–2024, however, 1.01 million visitors visited Nepal. March saw the highest number of visitors. While 124,393 tourists visited Nepal in October of this year, the largest number of visitors—128,167 arrived in March of 2024.
