Nepal Expands Tourism Campaign to Attract Global Visitors
Nepal’s Ministry of Tourism has announced an ambitious “Visit Nepal 2026” campaign, aiming to attract one million international tourists annually. The initiative will focus on promoting adventure tourism, cultural festivals, and eco-friendly travel experiences.
Officials said the campaign will prioritize improved air connectivity and rural tourism, encouraging visitors to explore regions beyond Kathmandu and Pokhara. The government has also partnered with private operators to enhance safety standards and digital tourism promotion.
With growing competition from Bhutan and India, Nepal aims to reposition itself as a year-round destination for both nature and spirituality seekers. The campaign will highlight Mount Everest expeditions, Lumbini — the birthplace of Buddha — and new trekking routes in Karnali Province.
South Asian tourism boards have shown interest in cross-border collaboration to promote “multi-country heritage circuits,” which could attract Indian and Bangladeshi travelers as well.
