Nepal Celebrates Ram Navami with Religious Fervor; Leaders Stress Cultural Preservation

As the nation celebrates Ram Navami, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Ram, the President and Vice President of Nepal have issued powerful messages of peace. Highlighting the festival as a cornerstone of national identity, the leaders have called on all Nepalis to embrace the values of tolerance and mutual trust. President Ramchandra Paudel, in his official message to the nation, emphasized that cultural and historical festivals are vital for strengthening the fabric of national unity. He noted that by fostering harmony and cooperation among Nepal’s diverse communities, such occasions help preserve the country’s ancient civilization and religious heritage.

The president described Ram Navami as a symbol of the victory of righteousness over evil. He expressed hope that the spirit of the festival would promote sustainable peace and fraternity among Nepalis, both at home and across the diaspora.

Parallelly, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav extended his heartfelt greetings, wishing for the happiness, prosperity, and good health of all citizens. In a poignant reflection on the festival’s deeper meaning, the vice president described Ram Navami as an occasion to adopt the “Maryada,” or dignity, represented by Lord Ram.

He stressed that indigenous traditions and faith play a crucial role in steering society away from negative tendencies. He expressed his aspiration that the ideals of duty and truth associated with this day would guide Nepali society away from moral decline and frustration.

The festival, observed on the ninth day of the bright fortnight of Chaitra, is being celebrated with immense fervor across the country. Major religious activities and fairs are currently underway, with the Ram Janaki Temple in Janakpur serving as a central hub for thousands of devotees seeking blessings. As temples resonate with prayers and bhajans today, the messages from the nation’s leadership serve as a reminder that the legacy of Lord Ram continues to inspire a path of ethics and communal harmony in modern Nepal.
