Khotang District Hospital will be expanded to accommodate 50 beds

Koshi Province government plans to upgrade Khotang District Hospital from 15 beds to 50 beds, following a Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki. The final stage of a hospital building construction has been completed, with the Health Minister presenting a proposal to manage 49 health workers, including 11th-level specialists. The residents are pleased that the hospital is being renovated after 33 years of operation. According to Health Minister Rai, the hospital will be upgraded to address a wide range of illnesses. The number of medical personnel was also raised. The district’s ten local levels were formerly required to go outside for even a basic health examination.

This need has been lifted as a result of the district hospital’s renovation. The federal government made the decision to modernize district hospitals nationwide to 50-bed facilities four years ago. On July 8, 2021, the Urban and Building Office, Okhaldhunga, negotiated with Shyam Sundar-Ramsagar-Nepal Phulbari JV, a construction business, to start the project at a cost of Rs 229 million in accordance with a federal government order. The construction had to be finished in 30 months. Nevertheless, the timeframe had to be extended twice before it was eventually accomplished.
