Kathmandu to Celebrate Alpine Cinema with Regional Showcase
Nepal will host South Asia’s first Mountain Film Festival in Kathmandu this September. The week-long event, backed by UNESCO and the Nepal Tourism Board, will showcase films focused on climate change, indigenous culture, and high-altitude life.
Over 80 films from 12 countries will be screened, including entries from India’s Ladakh and Sikkim, Bhutan’s Haa Valley, and Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts.
The festival aims to boost eco-tourism, support regional filmmakers, and spark dialogue on Himalayan conservation. Organizers say the event is expected to attract both film buffs and environmental scholars across South Asia.
