Karnali suspension bridge still has not been repaired

Karnali River suspension bridge that connects Aathbiskot Municipality-4 and Panchdeval Binayak Municipality-9 has not yet been fixed. This year, the boards of the bridge collapsed, trapping 14 mules. They were rescued after six hours of police and community work. Local authorities promised repairs after the event was covered by the media. According to Khidkijiula resident Ganesh Shahi, the bridge has gotten worse after the catastrophe and no effort has been made to fix it. Even though there is a bridge close by, locals prefer the shorter, run-down bridge for convenience, even if it is in bad condition.
According to a female instructor, she was forced to quit her profession because she was afraid of the deities at the bridge, which made it unsafe for her to travel. The Acting Chief District Officer of Dailekh, Ganesh Prasad Koirala, added that although attempts had been made to work with the appropriate authorities to build a new bridge, the project’s execution had been postponed. He promised to work with the relevant authorities once more to forward the project.
