India Remains Key Driver of Global Growth, Says IMF

India continues to play a pivotal role in powering global economic expansion, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Julie Kozack, IMF spokesperson and head of the Communications Department, said the country remains a “key growth engine for the world,” supported by resilient economic activity and strong domestic demand.
Kozack noted that the IMF had earlier projected India’s growth for 2025-26 at 6.6%, fuelled largely by robust consumption. However, stronger-than-expected third-quarter performance has prompted the organisation to consider raising its growth forecast.
The revised estimate will be published in the IMF’s upcoming World Economic Outlook update, scheduled for release in the coming days. Kozack reiterated that India has consistently demonstrated robust momentum and remains one of the most reliable contributors to global economic expansion.
With resilient fundamentals and rising demand, the IMF’s updated outlook is widely anticipated and could reinforce India’s status as one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world
