In western Nepal, a granulated organic fertilizer facility worth Rs 300 million opens

There was a serious scarcity of fertilizer for many farmers in western Nepal. In Rupandehi, a couple decided to start an organic fertilizer business. In Kothawa, Rohini rural municipality-4, Siddhartha Agrawal and Poonam Kumari established a Grow More Fertilizer and Chemical plant a few months after the plan was approved. The facility, which is stretched across five bighas, has cost the firm Rs 300 million. The startup wants to deliver fertilizer right to farmers’ homes. As the produce begins to reach the market, farmers are relieved. According to Siddhartha, all the components needed to keep soil healthy are mixed together. The business thinks that applying fertilizer increases agricultural productivity. Siddhartha said that the factory’s original goal was to offer fertilizer to the regions of Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Madhesh.

Every day, the plant can produce 200 tons. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development in the province of Lumbini has granted the factory production permits. Poonam Kumari, the managing director, stated that they were inspired to establish a fertilizer industry after witnessing a serious shortage during the COVID-19 epidemic. The fertilizer is intended for rooftop and terrace vegetable production. In addition to legumes like lentils, it may also be used with rice, wheat, and maize. According to Poonam Kumari, it is also appropriate for cash crops like tea and sugarcane. Packages including 5 kilogram, 25 kg, and 50 kg of fertilizer are available.
