Paddy plantation in Banke district has completed in 44% of total fields, with only 11% completed due to insufficient rainfall, according to the Agricultural Knowledge Centre. Approximately 44.6% of paddy land in Banke district has been planted, with rapid progress in all eight municipalities. If continued, the plantation is expected to be completed by July’s third week. Agricultural Knowledge Centre reports delayed planting due to lack of rain in Nepalgunj district until National Paddy Day. Rapid planting progresses in all rice-producing areas, with production expected to be good this year. The Sikta Irrigation Project has led to the highest planting in Rapti Sonari, Kohalpur, and Baijanath, while Janaki Rural Municipality has the lowest.
Farmers like Jayaram Yadav planted paddy seedlings in over 50% of their fields within days of rain, are concerned about planting timing. The recent rains, he claimed, have raised his expectations for healthy crop. Rapti Sonari-3 farmer Lakhan Tharu claimed that despite the plantation’s somewhat delayed start, it was executed well. Even though planting began late this year, the Agricultural Knowledge Centre in Banke stated that if there are no floods or inundations, there may be a chance for higher production than in the past. In Banke, there are 36,500 hectares of arable land available for rice cultivation. The entire paddy field underwent planting last year.
