In April, more than 100,000 tourists travel to Nepal

Over 116 thousand foreign visitors arrived in Nepal in the past month, setting a new record. This is the first time in five years that international foot traffic has been this high. In April, there were 116,490 foreign visitors to Nepal, compared to 111,376 in 2024 and 98,773 in 2023. The slow increase in visitor numbers after the COVID-19 pandemic suggests that the tourism industry is gradually recovering to its pre-pandemic level and that there is growing interest in Nepal worldwide. According to the Board, of the people who travelled to Nepal in April of last year, 25,933 were Indians, followed by 10,053 from the United States, 9,037 from China, and 6,838 from the United Kingdom.

The Board was informed that the number of overseas tourists arriving has increased by 106.5% compared to 2019. The Board’s CEO, Deepak Raj Joshi, said the tourists’ arrival in April of last year was encouraging. From January to April of this year, 415,048 visitors visited Nepal in total. March marked the beginning of the tourism season, and Nepal saw a steady increase in visitors, with April seeing the largest number of arrivals in the previous five years.
