Government formally permits climbing on Chulu West Peak

Nepal’s government has granted permission for mountaineering expeditions to climb Chulu West Peak, following a Council of Ministers decision. The summit offers stunning views and the Cabinet has adopted important national policies, including the National Labour Migration Policy and the National Strategy for Ending Child Marriage. The Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board signed the agreement after the Cabinet authorized the establishment of a Project Review Panel for the Arun III Hydropower Project, which is composed of Drs. Pawan Kumar Shrestha, Bhattarai, and Neupane. The Cabinet ratified the Implementation Letter, authorized publication in the Nepal Gazette, and approved tax exemptions for incomes from construction and services sponsored by the Millennium Challenge Corporation for the fiscal year 2082/83 B.S.

The Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission likewise had their terms of service and benefits finalized by the Cabinet. The Cabinet gave its approval for Nepal to attend international events, such as a workshop on climate-induced landslides and a UN Senior National Planners Course. Anil Raj Paudel was named Vice-Chairperson of the Youth and Small Entrepreneurs Self-Employment Fund, and the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training, UNOPS Exchange Letters, and land use permits were also accepted. Minister Gurung explained that the release of Durga Prasai and the Prime Minister’s trip to Turkmenistan are unrelated issues.
