Bishwakarma Puja, Vastu Day being observed across the country
Agency: Metalworkers and artisans across the country are celebrating Bishwakarma Puja and Vastu Day today by worshipping tools and machinery and honoring Lord Bishwakarma, regarded as the divine architect.
Traditionally marked on Kanya Sankranti, the festival includes rituals in workshops and factories, where temporary clay or sand idols of Bishwakarma are installed and later immersed in rivers.
Devotees believe that worshipping their equipment ensures durability and success in their craft.
Scholars say the tradition commemorates Bishwakarma’s legendary construction of the mythical city of Dwarka for Lord Krishna and his authorship of the ancient Vastu Shastra texts.
