Bikaji joins hands with Nepal’s Chaudhary Group to bring authentic Indian snacks to local shelves
Indian ethnic snacks giant Bikaji Foods International Limited has announced a strategic joint venture with Nepal’s leading business house, Chaudhary Group (CG). The partnership aims to bring authentic Indian flavours to Nepal, offering products like bhujia, namkeen, papad, sweets and other snacks to consumers across the country. The joint venture agreement, recently approved by Bikaji’s board, marks a new chapter in the company’s journey towards becoming a global name in ethnic foods. Under this agreement, both Bikaji and CG Foods will hold an equal stake of 50:50 in the new company, and will jointly invest capital in phases to build a modern food manufacturing facility in Nepal. The collaboration is expected to boost local production, reduce turnaround times, and ensure that customers in Nepal can access fresh, hygienic, and high-quality snacks tailored to local preferences. This facility will not only serve consumers efficiently but will also create local employment and strengthen Nepal’s supply chains in the food and snack sector.
Speaking on the development, Deepak Agarwal, Managing Director of Bikaji Foods, said, “This joint venture is a big step forward in our global journey. We truly believe Nepal holds great potential. With the Chaudhary Group’s deep understanding of the Nepalese market, we are confident we can bring high-quality, affordable snacks that will appeal to the local palate. But more than just business, we want this partnership to create value on the ground — supporting communities, building stronger supply systems, and uplifting the entire food sector in Nepal.” Varun Chaudhary, Director of CG Foods Nepal said , “We’re excited to team up with Bikaji. This isn’t just about making good snacks; it’s about long-term growth and making a real impact in Nepal. From more jobs to better supply chains, our goal is to bring global food innovation to Nepal while keeping it relevant to local tastes. We want to make Indian snacks part of daily life here in a simple, accessible, and joyful way.”
The announcement comes at a time when Nepal’s FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector is seeing rapid growth. According to the Investment Board Nepal, the sector is growing by nearly 20% every year, driven by factors like a rising middle class, changing food habits, and increasing access to branded goods through online and offline retail. With a population of around 30 million, the country’s food and snack market is now worth over one billion dollars, and is expected to grow even further in the coming years. For Bikaji, which has already established itself as a trusted brand in India and is expanding to other countries, the venture in Nepal is part of a larger vision of sustainable and community-driven growth. The company is not just looking to sell products, but also to build strong relationships with local partners, help improve supply infrastructure, and ensure that food quality and safety remain top priorities. The Chaudhary Group, which has a strong legacy in Nepal’s business landscape, is seen as an ideal partner for this mission. With experience in food manufacturing, retail, and logistics, CG brings not only market knowledge but also the operational strength needed to ensure success on the ground.
