Around 18% Voter Turnout Recorded by Noon in HoR Election 2026

Voting for the House of Representatives (HoR) election–2026 began across Nepal at 7:00 am on Thursday, with around 18 percent voter turnout recorded by 12:00 noon, according to the Election Commission of Nepal.
The commission reported that a total of 3,163,736 votes had been cast by midday. Election officials said the turnout figures were based on the commission’s real-time reporting system used to track voting across the country.
Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Election Commission, stated that approximately 18 percent of eligible voters had exercised their voting rights by noon.
Polling is being conducted at centers across the country, with voters arriving steadily to cast their ballots. Election authorities noted that the voting process has been largely peaceful and organized so far.
Officials also said that voter participation has been enthusiastic in many areas, with long queues seen at several polling stations since the morning.
Voting will continue until the scheduled closing time later in the day, and authorities expect the turnout percentage to rise as more voters arrive at polling centers during the afternoon.
