Army Vehicle Crash in J&K’s Doda Leaves 10 Dead, Several Injured

At least 10 Indian Army soldiers were killed and 10 others injured after a bullet-proof military vehicle fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, officials said. The accident occurred at Khanni Top on the Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate road while the vehicle was heading towards a high-altitude post.

According to reports, the vehicle was carrying 17 personnel when the driver reportedly lost control, causing it to plunge nearly 200 feet into the gorge. A joint rescue operation by the Army and police was launched immediately, and injured soldiers were shifted for medical treatment. Three critically injured personnel were airlifted to the Udhampur military hospital for specialised care.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep grief over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers. He said senior officials had been directed to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured and prayed for their speedy recovery.
The incident comes amid a series of recent accidents in the region involving security personnel in difficult terrain.
