Aged folk people in Accham facing a serious issue in getting allowance
About fifty persons who seemed to be over 70 years old congregated in the heart of Accham’s Panchadewal Binayak Municipality. They said that they were waiting in line to get the old age allowance that the Machhapuchchhre Bank Limited, which is located nearby, was distributing. When Machhapuchhre Bank in Binayak remained closed because of internal issues, these elderly people were unable to take money out of their accounts. For the past 10 days, elderly people have been waiting in line on the sidewalk next to the bank in the hopes of receiving the money they need to support themselves. Sitting on chilly ground does not yet provide respite for the elderly.
Early in the morning, Mahamati Bhul of Binayak Municipality-5 left her house and headed toward Binayak. She had to wait all day with an empty stomach for that money, which helped her meet her daily necessities, and it took her three hours to walk to the bank. Ten days have passed since the bank’s breakdown, according to manager Basanta Nepali. According to the bank, communication regarding repairs has been forwarded to the bank’s headquarters office. There are 16,000 more account holders at the Bank’s Binayak branch, including 7,600 social security beneficiaries and other account customers. Customers are experiencing issues as a result of the bank’s outage. Due to a disagreement between the Panchadewal Binayak Municipality’s management, social security benefits have not been distributed since June.
