Nepal Intensifies Rescue and Relief Operations After Rasuwa Floods

The death toll from the Rasuwa flood disaster has reached 903, while around 4,247 people remain unaccounted for, according to the latest update from Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA). The disaster has also left 267 people injured, with 146 already discharged from hospitals. Among those still missing are security personnel, government officials, foreign nationals and workers associated with hydropower projects. Authorities have so far rescued 10,451 people, with the Nepali Army conducting extensive air rescue operations involving both Nepali and foreign nationals. More than 20,800 security personnel from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been mobilised for rescue and relief operations. The government has also intensified the delivery of essential supplies, sending food, medicines, health equipment and generators to affected areas through trucks, vehicles and helicopters. Financial assistance has been allocated to Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other affected local governments to support relief efforts. Six surgical medical teams have been deployed, while unidentified bodies recovered from the disaster are being kept at hospitals across several districts pending identification. Rescue and relief operations continue as authorities work to locate missing people, provide emergency assistance and manage the aftermath of the devastating floods.
