Transport Office Generates More Than Rs 571 Million
Revenue exceeding Rs 571.53 million was collected in the fiscal year 2025/26. The Transport Management Office in Janakpurdham, Dhanusha, collected this revenue from service seekers during the last fiscal year.
According to the office chief, Basu Dev Malla, the office generated Rs 571,530,636 in revenue during the fiscal year 2025/26 through services such as new vehicle registration, renewals, and the issuance of driving licenses.
He noted that the collected revenue was Rs 95,413,344 less than that of the previous fiscal year, 2024/25.
In the previous fiscal year (2024/25), the office had collected Rs 666,943,980 in revenue across various categories.
The decline in revenue collection is attributed to the ‘Gen Z’ protests held on September 8 and 9 last year, as well as delays in software development by the Department of Transport Management during the final month of the fiscal year.
According to Office Chief Malla, 21,294 new vehicles were registered in the fiscal year 2025/26, comprising 16,957 motorcycles, 187 buses/trucks, 1,902 tempos/electric rickshaws, 1,022 tractors, and 226 jeeps/cars. During this period, 13,338 driving licenses were issued, a figure that includes both the issuance of new licenses and the addition of vehicle categories.
