Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has set a new record in world cricket
Nepal’s national team leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has set a new record in world cricket. He has become the fastest player to take 150 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He achieved this record by taking the wicket of Scotland’s Brendon McCullum on Monday during the ongoing World Cup League-2 in Kathmandu. So far, he has taken 136 wickets in 74 T20I matches. He completed his 150th ODI wicket by catching McCullum, who scored 73 runs, in the hands of Ishan Pandey. Sandeep achieved this record in 73 ODI matches. He broke the record previously held by Australia’s Mitchell Starc, who had taken 150 wickets in 77 matches. Sandeep is also the fastest player to reach 100 wickets in ODIs. He completed his 100th ODI wicket in his 42nd ODI match, also breaking the record of Australian player Starc.
