Cloudy Skies Over Nepal; Light Rain, Snow Likely in Mountain Regions

Western disturbance and local winds to trigger scattered showers and thunder in select provinces

Nepal is set to experience partly to generally cloudy weather on Wednesday, with light rain and snowfall expected in several mountainous areas, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Meteorologists said the mountain regions will remain mostly cloudy throughout the day, while the hilly and Terai belts are likely to see partly cloudy skies. There is a possibility of light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at one or two places in the mountainous districts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
The changing weather pattern is being driven by the influence of a western low-pressure system combined with local wind activity, leading to unstable atmospheric conditions across the country.
By evening, cloud cover is expected to persist in many regions. The hilly and mountainous areas of Karnali, Sudurpashchim, and Gandaki provinces are likely to remain generally cloudy overnight. Weather officials have also warned of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at a few locations in Sudurpashchim Province during the night.
In the Kathmandu Valley, the day will remain partly cloudy, offering relatively mild daytime conditions. Temperatures are expected to hover between 24°C and 26°C during the day, providing some comfort despite the cloud cover. Nighttime conditions, however, will turn mostly clear, with temperatures dipping between 9°C and 11°C.
Authorities have advised residents in mountainous regions to stay alert, especially in areas prone to sudden weather changes, lightning, and slippery conditions due to light snowfall.
