Kathmandu Reports Surge in International Visitors

Nepal’s tourism industry has reported record growth this year, with international arrivals surpassing 1.2 million in the first seven months. Officials credit improved air connectivity and aggressive promotional campaigns abroad.

Mountaineering remains the top attraction, with a record number of climbers applying for Everest permits this season. Local businesses, from trekking agencies to hotels, have seen strong revenue growth.

Tourism Minister Sudan Kirati said the sector is bouncing back after pandemic setbacks, while experts stressed the need for sustainable tourism to protect fragile Himalayan ecosystems.
