Shaheed Shukra School honors its art instructors
Shaheed Shukra Secondary School in Bagbazaar honored art teachers for their contributions to art education, highlighting practical knowledge transfer between students and teachers. Dibash Dhungel, School Management Committee Chairperson, emphasized the art workshop’s potential to inspire engagement in art education. Professor Radheshyam Mulmi emphasized the role of art teachers in promoting art to the masses, predicting Shaheed Shukra Secondary School, the first community school in the capital, will become a central hub for art in the future. Prem Lal Shrestha, President of the Nepal Professional Artists’ Association, praised the school’s initiative to introduce art education.
The principal of a school, Shaili Singh Rathour, is facing difficulties in running grade 11 and 12 classes due to negligence from the municipality and authorities. Despite limited budget and infrastructure, the school has prioritized art education, with programme coordinator Keshav Raj Khanal highlighting the respect for art teachers who give birth to new artists through art education. Shaheed Shukra Secondary School honored 25 artists and art teachers this year, including Raju Pithakote, Arya Rajbhandari, Suman Shrestha, Jyoti Khadka, Sajani Shrestha, Chandani Bajracharya, Surem Deshar, Sanjay Pradhan, Laxmi Maskey, Sabita Chitrakar, Prakash Mijar, Malika Udas.
