PM Oli is departing for Spain today
Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is departing for Spain to lead a delegation to the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, hosted by the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, from June 30 to July 3. Nepal plans to advocate for least developed, small, and island nations at a conference discussing investment commitments made by rich countries for poor and small nations. PM Oli will deliver a statement and hold sideline meetings. At 6:00 p.m. today, PM Oli will depart for Madrid via Qatar in order to attend the conference. On July 4, he will go back home.
High-level visit from Nepal is expected to draw tourists from European nations, especially Spain, and boost investment from industrialized nations in Nepal. PM Oli’s Chief Personal Secretary Rajesh Bajracharya, PM’s private physician Dr. Smriti Shakya, PM’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, Finance Ministry Secretary Ghan Shyam Upadhyay, Office of the PM and Council of Ministers Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha First Lady Radhika Shakya are among the 21 members of the delegation. The Nepali delegation would be joined by eight more individuals from Spain and New York, including Lok Bahadur Thapa, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the UN, and Shanil Nepal, Nepal’s Ambassador to Spain.
