Today is designated as Law Day
Numerous events are being planned today in observance of Law Day. It is observed to honor the founding day of Nepal’s Supreme Court, the Pradhan Nyayalaya. The Supreme Court was established on Baisakh 26, 2009 BS, following the passage of the Nepal Supreme Court Act, 2008. Every year, the Supreme Court observes the Day with particular meaning.
The purpose of the day is to promote discussion on the establishment of the modern judicial system, the rule of law, and an independent judiciary. This afternoon, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Ramchandra Paudel will attend a special function hosted by the Supreme Court.
