According to a princess from Qatar, mountains are devoid of life
Standing under the shadow of Mount Everest, Qatari princess and Everest climber Sheikha Asma Al Thani has expressed serious worries about the rapid changes taking place in the Himalayan region. In comparison to her initial visit in 2019, Princess Thani called the Alps “lifeless” when speaking at a climbers’ conference in Thame, an area frequently affected by glacier floods.
“The 2023 glacial lake outburst flood had a significant impact on this area, destroying many homes, cutting off road connections, and disrupting power lines,” she said. According to Princess Thani, these disasters are not unique. She was especially concerned about the snow-covered topography of the Himalaya.
