According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development’s early projections, the nation would produce 5 million 955 thousand 476 metric tons of rice during the current fiscal year. According to Dr. Matina Joshi Baidya, a spokesman for the ministry, the current fiscal year’s rice yield would be 4.04 percent more than the production from the previous fiscal year. According to her, an estimated 1 million 420 thousand 636 hectares of land were used for rice production in the current fiscal year. It is 1.28% smaller than the total area used for rice cultivation in the previous fiscal year. She claims that the average productivity has at its best level to date, 4.19 metric tons per acre. While the yield of rice has declined in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, it has grown in Koshi, Madhes, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
