18 recently elected members of the National Assembly take the oath of office
The 18 parliamentarians elected in the January 25 National Assembly election have officially taken their oath of office and secrecy in a ceremony held at the hall of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee in Singh Durbar. The oath was administered by National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal during a special event. The National Assembly consists of 59 members, with elections for one-third of the members occurring every two years. This recent election aimed to fill 18 seats as 19 member terms end on March 4, with one seat designated for presidential nomination based on the government’s recommendation. The newly elected members hail from various provinces: Sunil Bahadur Thapa, Roshni Meche, and Som Portel from Koshi Province; Mahantha Thakur, Dharmendra Paswan, Ranjit Karna, and Rekha Jha from Madhesh Province; Gita Devkota and Dr. Prem Dangal from Bagmati Province; Jagat Timilsina and Samjhana Devkota from Gandaki Province; Ram Kumari Jhakri, Basudev Jangali, and Chandra Bahadur KC from Lumbini Province; Lalit Jung Shahi and Mina Rakhal from Karnali Province; and Khamma Bahadur Khati and Leela Bhandari from Sudurpashchim Province.
