12 years on, Nepathya scripts another milestone at Wembley Arena

Agency: After a twelve-year hiatus, Nepal’s premier folk-rock band, Nepathya, scripted another milestone by performing before thousands of fans at a sold-out, historic Wembley Arena in the United Kingdom.

In a press statement issued today, Nepalaya, the band’s management company, said, “The concert, held in one of the world’s busiest cities, London, was celebrated by the audience as a festival, with fans swaying along with the band from beginning to end.”

Adhering to a strict schedule, the band kicked off the much-anticipated concert with their evergreen smash hit, “Koshi ko Pani,” performed to a sold-out arena.

When the band played another of their signature and most beloved songs, “Aaganai Vari,” witness Puskal Gurung-who attended the event-recalled Amrit Gurung composing the song while staying at his house in Yanjakot, Kaski district, long before the band was established, reads the statement.

As the show went on, singer Amrit not only performed songs but also shared his experiences of song collection, inspiring the audience to preserve the Nepali language and culture. He praised the homeland and issued a heartfelt appeal to the expatriate youth to stay connected with their roots.

“I have always received enthusiastic support from the audience whenever I speak on social issues close to my heart,” Amrit said. “Being embraced by such a large crowd in London, who wholeheartedly resonated with those sentiments, made me feel as proud and strong as Mount Everest.”

On stage, Amrit Gurung was supported by Dhruba Lama on drums; Subin Shakya and Niraj Gurung on guitars; Shanti Raymajhi on madal; and Dinesh Raj Regmi on keyboard.

This time, the Wembley tour was organized by the UK-based ‘BSK Entertainment’ and ‘Parcha Production.’

Following their historic performance at Wembley Arena, the band is set to embark on a European tour, beginning with a concert in Copenhagen, Denmark on August 23, followed by performances in Attard, Malta on August 27, Lisbon, Portugal on August 31, and Antwerp, Belgium on September 3, before returning home, according to the statement.
